Blizzard Shuts Down ‘Vanilla Vanilla’ WoW Server for Being Too Vanilla
In a shocking turn of events, Blizzard has issued a cease and desist order against a private server running ‘Vanilla Vanilla,’ claiming it is simply too vanilla for their liking.
Players on the ‘Vanilla Vanilla’ server were left stunned when they received the news that Blizzard was shutting down their beloved server. The server, which prided itself on being the most authentic Vanilla WoW experience possible, apparently crossed a line by being too faithful to the original game.
According to Blizzard, ‘Vanilla Vanilla’ was in violation of their intellectual property rights by not adding any new content or updates to the game. A spokesperson for Blizzard stated, ‘We cannot allow players to experience the game exactly as it was in 2004. That’s just not how we do things around here.’
Fans of the server have taken to social media to voice their outrage, with hashtags like #LetVanillaBeVanilla and #JusticeForVanillaVanilla trending worldwide. Many players are now calling for a boycott of Blizzard in protest of their heavy-handed tactics.
This latest move by Blizzard has left many in the WoW community scratching their heads. With so many private servers out there offering far more egregious violations of Blizzard’s rules, why target one that was simply trying to provide a pure Vanilla experience? Only time will tell if Blizzard will reconsider their stance or double down on their crackdown on private servers.
