Blizzard Sends Cease and Desist to Grandma’s WoW Private Server

A group of elderly players find themselves in hot water with Blizzard after hosting their own private server in a retirement home.

Elwynn Forest, Azeroth—In a shocking turn of events, a group of elderly World of Warcraft players residing in the Sunshine Meadows Retirement Home have found themselves on the receiving end of a legal cease and desist from Blizzard Entertainment. The group, affectionately known as ‘Grandma’s WoW Guild,’ had set up their own private server in the common room of the facility to relive their glory days in Azeroth.

According to sources close to the situation, the retirees had been running the server for over a year, organizing weekly raid nights and PvP tournaments. However, their activities caught the attention of Blizzard’s legal team, who swiftly sent a cease and desist letter demanding the immediate shutdown of the server.

As news of the cease and desist spread, the elderly players were devastated. ‘We just wanted to have some fun and bond over our favorite game,’ lamented Ethel, 87, the guild leader. ‘Now Blizzard is trying to shut us down? It’s just not fair.’

While Blizzard’s actions may seem harsh, legal experts believe the company is well within their rights to protect their intellectual property. ‘Private servers, especially those that are publicly accessible, can pose a threat to the integrity of the game and the overall player experience,’ explained attorney Barry Goldstein. ‘Blizzard has a responsibility to enforce their copyrights and trademarks.’

As the debate rages on in the WoW community, one thing is clear: Grandma’s WoW Guild won’t go down without a fight. Despite the legal threats, the retirees have vowed to continue playing together, even if it means doing so on Blizzard’s official servers.
