Blizzard Sends Cease and Desist to Private Server for Naming NPC ‘NotSoSubtle Legal Threat’

In a shocking turn of events, Blizzard’s legal team has cracked down on a World of Warcraft private server for their cheeky NPC naming choices.

Yesterday, players on the popular private server Wrath of the Villains were greeted by a new NPC named ‘NotSoSubtle Legal Threat’. The NPC, a goblin lawyer dressed in a sharp suit, could be found wandering around the server’s capital city, handing out cease and desist letters to unsuspecting players.

Blizzard’s legal team was quick to respond to the seemingly harmless joke, sending a formal cease and desist letter to the server’s administrators. In the letter, Blizzard cited trademark infringement and demanded the immediate removal of the NPC.

Players on Wrath of the Villains were quick to take to social media to express their outrage at Blizzard’s heavy-handed tactics. Many pointed out the absurdity of the situation, with one player tweeting, ‘So now Blizzard is even trying to shut down NPCs? What’s next, banning players for naming their characters after Blizzard employees?’

While the future of ‘NotSoSubtle Legal Threat’ remains uncertain, one thing is clear: Blizzard is not messing around when it comes to protecting their intellectual property. Players are left wondering what other creative names Blizzard will come after next.
