Blizzard Lawyers Send Cease and Desist to Grandpa Jenkins’ Vanilla WoW Server
In a shocking turn of events, Blizzard’s legal team has set their sights on a small private server run by a 78-year-old man known as Grandpa Jenkins.
Grandpa Jenkins, a retired grocery store clerk, has been running his own version of Vanilla WoW out of his basement for the past three years. The server, affectionately dubbed ‘Grandpa’s Basement,’ has gained a small but dedicated following of players looking to relive the glory days of Azeroth.
However, Blizzard’s legal team recently caught wind of Grandpa’s server and wasted no time in sending him a cease and desist letter. The letter, written in Comic Sans font for added seriousness, demanded that Grandpa shut down his server immediately or face legal action.
When asked for comment, Grandpa Jenkins replied, ‘I just wanted to have some fun with the grandkids. I didn’t think Blizzard would care about my little server.’
Many players have come to Grandpa’s defense, citing the nostalgia and sense of community they found on his server. A petition to ‘Save Grandpa’s Basement’ has already garnered over 10,000 signatures.
In the meantime, Grandpa Jenkins has reluctantly shut down his server, but he has a message for Blizzard: ‘You may have shut down Grandpa’s Basement, but you can’t shut down the memories we made there.’
