Blizzard Sends Cease and Desist to WoW Private Server Using Players as Power Source
In a shocking turn of events, Blizzard has issued a cease and desist to a World of Warcraft private server for harnessing the energy of its players to power the game servers.
Players on the private server, known as Energon-WoW, were baffled to discover that their endless hours of grinding and raiding were actually being used to generate electricity for the server’s operations. Many players reported feeling drained and fatigued after long gaming sessions, only to later learn that their efforts were literally powering the game they were playing.
Blizzard’s legal team swiftly intervened, citing concerns over player exploitation and the potential health risks of using human energy sources. In a statement, Blizzard warned against any further attempts to harness player energy for private server operations, emphasizing the importance of player well-being and fair treatment in the gaming industry.
Despite the controversy, Energon-WoW’s player base remains loyal, with some even volunteering to continue supplying energy to keep the server running. In response, Blizzard has offered affected players a free transfer to an official server, along with a complimentary Celestial Steed mount as compensation for their unwitting contribution to Energon-WoW.
As the debate over player-powered private servers rages on, one thing is clear: players should always be vigilant about where their time and energy are being spent in the world of Azeroth.
