Blizzard Sends Cease and Desist to Server Offering ‘Free Hugs’ Mount

In a shocking turn of events, Blizzard has issued a cease and desist to a private server offering players a ‘Free Hugs’ mount in World of Warcraft.

Players on the server, known for its laid-back community events and quirky in-game items, were left reeling after receiving the legal notice from Blizzard’s legal team. The ‘Free Hugs’ mount, a giant pink cuddly bear that players could ride around Azeroth, was a beloved feature of the server and a staple of player selfies and group screenshots.

Blizzard’s cease and desist cited copyright infringement and unauthorized use of intellectual property as the reasons for shutting down the ‘Free Hugs’ mount. Players have taken to social media to vent their frustrations, with hashtags like #SaveTheHugs trending worldwide.

In response, the server owner has announced a ‘Hug-In’ protest event in-game, where players can gather to show their support for the ‘Free Hugs’ mount. However, rumors are already circulating that Blizzard may send GMs to patrol the event and hand out virtual restraining orders to anyone caught hugging the bear mount.

This latest legal battle between Blizzard and private servers has left the community divided, with some calling for stricter enforcement of copyright laws and others lamenting the loss of creative player-driven content. One player summed it up on the forums with a simple post: ‘RIP Free Hugs, you will be missed.’
