Blizzard Sues Player for Playing World of Warcraft While Standing on One Leg
In a shocking turn of events, Blizzard Entertainment has filed a lawsuit against a World of Warcraft player for allegedly violating the End User License Agreement by playing the game while standing on one leg.
According to court documents, the player, known only as ‘LegolasLegDay,’ was reported to Blizzard by a fellow player who claimed to have witnessed him balancing on one leg while raiding in the Blackwing Lair. Blizzard’s legal team wasted no time in sending LegolasLegDay a cease and desist letter, demanding that he cease all one-legged gameplay immediately.
The player’s defense attorney argues that there is no explicit rule in the EULA that prohibits playing World of Warcraft on one leg, but Blizzard’s lawyers are adamant that it falls under the umbrella of ‘unauthorized modifications’ to the game client. The case is set to go to trial next month.
In response to the lawsuit, players across Azeroth have taken to social media to express their outrage, with hashtags such as #StandWithLegolas and #LegsOutForLegDay trending worldwide. Some have even organized in-game protests, with hundreds of players gathering in Orgrimmar and Stormwind to show their support for LegolasLegDay.
Despite the controversy, Blizzard shows no signs of backing down, with a spokesperson stating, ‘We take the integrity of our game very seriously, and will not hesitate to take legal action against any player who violates the terms of our EULA.’
Whether LegolasLegDay will emerge victorious in his legal battle against the gaming giant remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain: the one-legged players of Azeroth will not go down without a fight.
