Blizzard Lawyers Send Cease and Desist to Grandma Running Vanilla WoW Server Out of Nursing Home
In a shocking turn of events, Blizzard’s legal team has set their sights on a sweet old lady who has been running a Vanilla WoW server out of her nursing home.
Margaret Jenkins, a 87-year-old retired school teacher, has been hosting a private Vanilla WoW server for her fellow residents at Sunny Meadows Retirement Community for the past year. The server, lovingly named ‘GeezerCraft,’ has been a hit among the retirees who enjoy reliving their glory days of raiding Molten Core and PvPing in Hillsbrad Foothills.
However, Margaret’s fun came to a screeching halt when a team of Blizzard lawyers showed up at Sunny Meadows with a cease and desist order. According to the legal document, Margaret’s server was infringing on Blizzard’s intellectual property and must be shut down immediately.
Margaret, who has never even heard of World of Warcraft, was left bewildered by the whole ordeal. ‘I just wanted to keep my friends entertained during bingo night,’ she said tearfully. ‘I never meant to break any laws.’
Blizzard’s legal team has since confiscated Margaret’s computer and server equipment, leaving the residents of Sunny Meadows without their beloved GeezerCraft. In response, Margaret has started a petition to bring back the server, garnering support from retirees all over the world.
Blizzard has not commented on the controversy, but insiders say they are considering offering Margaret a job in their legal department as a gesture of goodwill.
