Blizzard Shuts Down Vanilla Nostalgia Server for Actually Being Popular

In a shocking turn of events, Blizzard has issued a cease and desist to a World of Warcraft private server that was actually gaining traction among players who miss the good old days.

Fans of classic WoW were left reeling this week as Blizzard cracked down on Wrath of the Lich King private server, NostalgiaCraft, for daring to provide a fun and functional alternative to the current retail experience.

Despite claims of wanting to preserve the ‘authentic’ vanilla WoW experience, Blizzard seemed less than thrilled when players actually flocked to NostalgiaCraft in droves, leaving official servers feeling like ghost towns in comparison.

In a statement, Blizzard’s legal team explained that ‘while we wholeheartedly support the idea of classic servers in theory, we simply can’t have players actually enjoying themselves in a way that doesn’t involve microtransactions.’

Players who had invested hours into their NostalgiaCraft characters were left devastated, with many taking to social media to express their frustration with Blizzard’s heavy-handed approach to shutting down the server.
